Amazing Results in Memory Care!

Troy Hutchinson - Tuesday, January 17, 2012

Our Director of Nursing, Donna Campbell, reported amazing results about medication reduction with residents inThe Josephine Memory Care Center with the implementation of the behavior based ergonomic program.

Over the past 8 months, 6 out of 12 residents withAlzheimer’s and/or dementia had a significant reduction with the use pain and behavioral medications, and 3 of them are no longer taking medications for behavior at all.

All the residents have an increased interest in activities and social interactions with family and other residents.  We believe these results are evidence of the compassion, hard work and commitment of the staff and our behavior based ergonomics program.

The 10 Wilmington Lilacs and The Pink Ladies joined an area league of Wii bowlers from other retirement communities in Dayton.  Each community hosted a day of Wii bowling complete with breakfast, lunch, horns and noise makers!  Competition was tough but many new friends were made and fun was had by all.  Both teams are looking forward to the awards ceremony to be held on November 15th.  Way to go!!

10 Wilmington Place has earned another deficiency free survey from the Ohio Dept. of Health.  This is the 8th consecutive year that we have received this distinction.

The rating was awarded following an unannounced on-site survey that reviewed the facility’s overall quality of care, adherence to state health requirements and implemented procedures.

10 Wilmington Place congratulates our staff for achieving this goal.  Keep up the excellent work!

We had a wonderful time at the Taste of Kettering event on September 1st.  The Taste was held at the Fraze Pavillion in Kettering and sponsored by the Kettering/Moraine/Oakwood Chamber of Commerce.  Our own Executive Chef, Keith Davis, prepared a spinich artichoke dip with homemade chips and our signature chocolate bark for the 3,000 attendees to sample.  The event was a sucess and we were happy to take part in this fantastic community event!
