Residents of 10 Wilmington Place and some guests enjoyed the sounds of The Kettering Civic Band as they performed an outdoor concert on our patio, Wednesday, August 21st. Beautiful weather and music made this free event well attended.
Our Director of Nursing, Donna Campbell, reported amazing results about medication reduction with residents inThe Josephine Memory Care Center with the implementation of the behavior based ergonomic program.
Over the past 8 months, 6 out of 12 residents withAlzheimer’s and/or dementia had a significant reduction with the use pain and behavioral medications, and 3 of them are no longer taking medications for behavior at all.
All the residents have an increased interest in activities and social interactions with family and other residents. We believe these results are evidence of the compassion, hard work and commitment of the staff and our behavior based ergonomics program.

Today the children from Wee Haven Children's Center came to visit us. They brought some homemade gifts and sang songs for our residents in exchange for some treats and lots of hugs. No tricks today, just the treat of watching their little faces light up the room.
Although the day dawned gray and chilly we had a great turnout for our 1st annual Easter Egg Hunt, co-sponsored with Home Instead Senior Care, on Saturday March 30th. The Easter Bunny stopped in to the delight of the children and retirement living residents. The search was on to find one of twelve golden eggs.
The second phase of The Josephine Memory Care Center is now open and filling up quickly with residents needing assistance with Alzheimer and dementia. Learn more about this innovative new behavior based therapy program on our two minute video.

For all of you that welcomed me as the new 10 Wilmington Place Director, I thank you. We had a wonderful reception in the Newcome Lounge that spilled over into all of the community rooms (not to mention the great food prepared by Chef Keith). I am overwhelmed by the supportive staff and the sincere friendliness of the residents and their families. Having come from a large prominent multi-level senior facility, I can assure you that the atmosphere here can only be described as superior. So much caring, so much laughter, I pinch myself to be sure I am really here. Thank you all and I look forward to being a good steward of your trust.
