Barry & Marilyn Humphries
Our initial plan for
10 Wilmington Place was to create modern and exciting living spaces for our residents
while preserving the historic property. We wanted to create a living environment that our
own parents would enjoy, and Marilyn's mother in fact did live at 10 Wilmington for many
years.
The original
building was constructed in 1855 and was surrounded by 26 acres of beautifully landscaped
grounds. We had a lot of support from the Dayton community in redeveloping the property.
It took 4 years of planning and construction before we opened the property to our first
residents in 1986. We built large apartments and also provided a lot of public space so
that residents would have many options inside the building. In addition to the dinning
rooms, we provided meeting rooms, a health club, retail space, activity areas and lounges
for meeting friends. We were also able to preserve the 26 acre site in a park like setting
for the enjoyment of our residents. The project was given many awards for design and
historic preservation that we are very proud of today.
Our philosophy in operating the facility was to create a family environment that fosters
respect for the individual while promoting a strong sense of community. We also wanted to
be able to offer a complete continuum of care for our residents and are very pleased to
have independent living, assisted living and nursing home care on the campus.
We are extremely proud of 10 Wilmington Place and take a personal interest in every aspect
of the operation. Together with our staff and residents, we are committed to maintaining
the very best retirement living in the Dayton area.
To our many resident friends and their families we thank you for making 10 Wilmington such
a special place.
