What a gift it is when a moment pulls you out of the rhythm of daily life and urges you to pause, reflect, and experience a deep gratitude for the work you do and the people you do it for. Recently, a moment of pride in our community stopped me in my tracks, and so I am here, writing an open letter to our community, to share, celebrate, and maybe even inspire.
You hear a lot about our residents at 10 Wilmington Place, and rightfully so. They are the heart and the “why” of everything we do.
But, what you hear less about is what happens behind the scenes. The quiet, everyday ways our team shows up for one another so that the care our residents receive is truly exceptional.
Being family owned is not just a phrase to us. It is a responsibility and a commitment. It means we put our people first. Our residents, yes, but also the team members who care for them day in and day out. We believe that when staff feel supported, respected, and valued, care naturally carries through to the people we serve.
A recent snowstorm was a powerful example of that belief in action. As snowy roads made travel conditions questionable, our focus remained on ensuring our residents had the consistent, compassionate care they depend on. Without being asked, members of our leadership team and staff stepped in to help. Cars were loaded up, routes were planned, and team members picked up other staff so everyone could arrive safely and ready to serve our residents in their own unique way.
These moments do not make headlines. They are not flashy or public. But they are the moments that define who we are. Waking up and showing up early. Adjusting schedules. Making sure a coworker gets to work safely. Putting the needs of others ahead of convenience. These are small acts on the surface, but they are really the biggest ones.
This is what it means to be family owned. It shows up in how we care for our residents and in how we care for each other. It shows up in teamwork, accountability, and the understanding that we are all connected.
To our incredible staff, thank you. Thank you for putting our residents first. Thank you for looking out for one another. Thank you for the dedication, heart, and humanity you bring to your work every single day.
What happens behind the scenes is what makes everything else possible, and we could not be more proud of the team that makes 10 Wilmington Place feel like home.
With gratitude,
