What to expect on a Memory Care tour at 10 Wilmington Place

Choosing a Memory Care community for a loved one is a deeply personal decision. At 10 Wilmington Place, we understand the challenges that come with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, and we are committed to creating a supportive, enriching environment where residents can feel safe, engaged, and valued.

Our approach to care is guided by "Celebrating the Individual – The Josephine Way," named in honor of Josephine Humphries, the mother of our founder, Barry Humphries. Josephine bravely faced Alzheimer’s for 14 years, inspiring the personal connection that drives our commitment to excellence in Memory Care.

If you’re considering Memory Care for your loved one, the best way to see if 10 Wilmington Place is the right fit is to visit in person. Here’s what to expect on a tour.

Scheduling your tour

Scheduling a tour is simple! Just call (937) 253-1010 or book online to find a time that works for you. Before your visit, we encourage you to explore our website, check out frequently asked questions, or take a virtual tour to get a preview of our community.

When you arrive

When you pull up to 10 Wilmington Avenue in Dayton, you’ll find guest parking conveniently located in front of the main entrance. Once inside, our friendly front desk team will welcome you and guide you to meet with a sales counselor. We’ll start with a discovery discussion to learn more about your loved one’s unique needs and preferences to ensure that 10 Wilmington Place is the best fit for them.

What you'll see on your tour

We’ll take you to the Josephine Memory Care Center, located on the fourth floor, where you’ll immediately notice the warm and welcoming environment designed to support individuals with memory loss. Everything about our Memory Care community is thoughtfully structured to reduce confusion and enhance residents’ quality of life.

During your tour, you’ll get a firsthand look at:

  • The secure Memory Care community, designed to create a calm, supportive environment
  • Private and companion suite floor plans, which feature en suite bathrooms and plenty of natural light
  • Engagement spaces where residents participate in social events, cognitive activities, and therapeutic programs
  • The dining and common areas, where residents enjoy chef-prepared meals and comfortable spaces for relaxation

If schedules align, you may also have the opportunity to meet Chris Shelley, our Memory Care Director, who brings over 32 years of healthcare experience to our community. Chris leads our advanced dementia training for staff and continually enhances our activity programming to improve the lives of residents.

A personalized approach to memory care

At 10 Wilmington Place, Memory Care is not one-size-fits-all. Our dedicated team works closely with families to create individualized care plans based on each resident’s unique needs, history, and preferences. Our philosophy of care, "Celebrating the Individual – The Josephine Way," prioritizes emotional well-being, personal connections, and honoring the life stories of each resident.

To enhance the daily lives of residents, we incorporate LifeLoop, an interactive technology that provides engaging activities, cognitive stimulation, and opportunities for connection. With LifeLoop, residents can listen to music, watch movies, explore virtual travel experiences, and engage in customized programming that brings joy and purpose to their days.
